Social Networking Websites and Teens
Question: Describe about the Social Networking Websites and Teens? Answer: In the study that was conducted on the abstaining of a social media networking site it was shown that most of the people nowadays are addicted to technology and the social networking site such as the Facebook. However this sudden and dramatic change in the advent of the social media has made the technologies play a very important role and also have been the reason for few mid-digital crises (Boyd, d (2006). The users of these social networking sites noticed that it started creating a huge negative impact in their personalities like making them unhealthy, fat, depressed, lonely and also making them waste their valuable time in worrying about whether these changes are actually happening to them and this result in losing the confidence in oneself. When it was asked to a student to abstain herself from facebook for 2 weeks, it was seen that she failed to even go the full 24 hours without media. The research also saw that she started showing different emotions like confusion, anxiety, irritation, nervousness, panicked, jealousy, angry, lonely, dependent, depressed, paranoid and also insecure. It was surprising to see that the abstinence from these social media not only had physical changes but also made many psychological changes (Lenhart, A (2007). The study therefore also showed that there was a feeling of withdrawal, confusion and also a feeling of failure.
